PM to chair meeting on plan for Covid-19 checks at the country's borders

The progress in the implementation of the Operational plan for controls at the gateways into Greece will be discussed in a 12:30 video conference on Friday, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The plan also involves security and armed forces personnel, who will reinforce the mixed teams, under the operational coordination of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

The meeting will include Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis, National Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias, Shipping and Island Policy Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis, Minister of State Georgios Gerapetritis, government spokesperson Stelios Petsas and a numbof deputy ministers and ministry general secretaries, as well as the National Defence General Staff chief General Konstantinos Floros, Hellenic Police Chief Michail Karamalakis, the head of the Coast Guard Theodoros Kliaris, the head of the National Organisation for Public Health Panagiotis Arkoumaneas and data scientist Kimonas Drakopoulos.

The presentation of the plan and the distribution of the personnel from all the forces will be made by Deputy Minister for Civil Protection and Crises Management Nikos Hardalias, while Drakopoulos will present data on the targeted random testing.
