Prime Minister Mitsotakis visits the Hospital of Giannitsa
NewsroomPrime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday visited the Hospital of Giannitsa and the town's health centre, which also serves as the vaccination centre for Pella, the second stop of his tour of northern Greece.
"I came to thank you for your great efforts. I want you to know that you have my unconditional support in your struggle," Mitsotakis said, addressing the board and the hospital's employees.
"We know that the hospital of Pella was particularly hard hit by the second wave of the pandemic and was stretched to its limits. We did anything possible to support it and I want to thank the doctors and the volunteers that offered to support the hospital," the premier said.
He referred to the epidemiological data showing a reduction in new Covid-19 cases in northern Greece, while underlining the need to remain vigilant and urging people to spend the holidays with immediate family.
Mitsotakis pointed out the importance for those working in the health sector to be vaccinated "in order to give a good example". The prime minister also visited the Health Centre of Giannitsa, which will house three of the country's 1,018 vaccination centres for COVID-19.
