Alternate Foreign Affairs Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou said Greece's intention is to nurture friendly relations with Albania, speaking on KontraTV on Tuesday, but under the condition "the neighboring country puts the rights of ethnic minorities at the top of its priorities."

She elaborated that "as long as there is political instability in Albania and problems concerning minorities and their properties, other pending issues like Albania's EU accession cannot be settled."

On Greece's relations with Turkey and media reports that speculated on a potential heated incident between the two countries in the Aegean Sea, Anagnostopoulou said that "we are not afraid, we are constantly vigilant." She added that "when we have an increasing provocative behavior on behalf of Turkey, as in recent years, culminating in the Cypriot EEZ, we are certainly alert to this, because the danger of a hot episode is real and has been for years, considering all the tensions and violations that we have," she observed.

Anagnostopoulou underlined that "the SYRIZA government managed to create a network of alliances, friendly relations and co-dependencies that really do benefit our country."

In terms of diplomacy "Greece is stronger than ever," she concluded.
