Gennimata: We will not let the country endure successive elections
NewsroomA vote for the Movement for Change (Kinima Allagis, KINAL) party is a useful and crucial vote, party leader Fofi Gennimata reiterated in her interview with ANT1 TV on Thursday.
She further clarified the position her party intends to adopt after the elections, in the case that no single party has an overall majority in parliament. "We will not let the country be forced into new adventures with successive elections.... Our position is very clear. We see ourselves participating in a government if the political correlations change."
Gennimata said she was not impressed by main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis' statement that he will force repeat elections on August 15 if his party does not get an overall majority on July 7
"This is not a nationally responsible position. It is open blackmail," she said, adding that Mitsotakis could not use such blackmail on the Greek people while at the same time presenting himself as the person who will bring political stability to the country.
