Energy sources are the Greek people's property, KKE's Koutsoumbas says

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Friday expressed his concern over the energy agreement for Crete, focusing on three issues, including the "provocative terms of the hydrocarbons concession that SYRIZA granted to Exxon-Total-Hellenic Petroleum." According to Koutsoumbas, this amounted to yet one more theft of valuable energy sources that will be gone forever, as far as Greece is concerned.

Speaking on Friday to Parapolitika radio, he also said that through this concession, Greece is getting more deeply involved in the plans of the United states, NATO, the EU and capitalist countries "that we are afraid will lead, for the control of the energy sources, to even more generalised conflicts."

The third concern Koutsoumbas raised was the impact on Crete's natural environment and economy.

Koutsoumbas said that energy sources should be exploited, of course, but should be "the Greek people's property" and not that of monopolies.
