Greek stocks end higher on Monday
NewsroomGreek stocks moved higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Monday, extending last week’s rally. Traders said buying interest focused on bank shares.
The general index of the market rose 0.49 pct to end at 895.04 points, with the Large Cap index rising 0.66 pct and the Mid Cap index ending 0.42 pct higher. Turnover was 58.129 million euros in volume of 28,813,378 shares.
National Bank (4.13 pct), Alpha Bank (3.64 pct), Piraeus Bank (2.92 pct) and Eurobank (1.62 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks while Ellaktor (2.80 pct), Lamda Development (2.27 pct) and PPC (1.52 pct) suffered heavy losses. Among market sectors, Banks (3.04 pct) and Raw Materials (1.75 pct) scored gains, while Real Estate (2.17 pct) and Travel (1.18 pct) ended lower. National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 64 to 51 with another 37 issues unchanged. Mathios (29.49 pct) and Attica Publications (24.22 pct) were top gainers, while Pairis (24.85 pct) and Xylemporia (24.84 pct) were top losers.
