PM Mitsotakis on new tax relief bill: 'The identity of the new government'
Newsroom"It corresponds to the government's pre-electoral commitment to relief for Greeks against heavy taxation," said Mitsotakis, and stressed that reducing the ENFIA property tax and significantly upgrading the 120-instalmennts repayment plan benefits both the millions of households as well as professionals and businesses.
"It has a clear social message," he said, as it includes provisions for all taxpayers, but mostly for the weak.
As the prime minister said, "the bill revitalizes the productive middle class; it revitalizes the real estate market, changing the mix of economic policies towards new investments, growth, more jobs, and the growth of the national product so that it translates to a higher income for every Greek."
Mitsotakis noted that the new tax bill reduces ENFIA by an average of 22 pct in 2019, at an additional budgetary cost of 205 million euros, and underlined that "no one is exempt from this brave relief (...) a fairly gradual easing, depending on the value of the property."
Within the next six weeks, said the Prime Minister, "about 4 million Greek citizens will see tax relief on their real estate, when their property tax clearance forms come through."
