Greece did not have a policy on migration and refugee issue, the Citizen Protection Ministry said on Sunday in a statement.

It was totally passive to the consequences of geopolitical pursuits and the financial interests of others, it underlined adding that it is a geopolitical, national, social and humanitarian issue.

For this reason, it said, the Citizen Protection Ministry at a decision of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called an emergency Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence (KYSEA) on Saturday in order to take measures and address the increase of refugee flows in the Aegean.
