Newsroom

A makeshift explosive device was found on Monday morning in the Athens University campus, just opposite the police station of Zografou. The explosive device was noticed by the local police station chief as he was parking his motorcycle outside the wall of the campus. The station chief saw a clock and wires connected to a bottle and called in the bomb squad.

The area was cordoned off and the bomb squad confirmed that it was an explosive device. A first controlled explosion was carried out in order to disable the bomb but, according to police, a second controlled explosion may be needed.
