Newsroom

The new "Odysseas Elytis" terminal at Mytilene Airport started operating on Thursday and welcomed the first passengers, arriving on a flight from Athens at 08:10.

According to Fraport Greece, the completion of works and the operation of the new terminal marks a very important day in the context of implementing the investement programme for upgrading and modernising the 14 regional airports by Fraport Greece.

The 20-million-euro investment foresees the construction of a new user-friendly terminal of 7,185 sqm, a 30 pct increase in check-in points (in comparison with the old terminal) and the installation of a modern luggage-checking and management system. At the same time, a new fire station was constructed while the aircraft parking areas has been fully refurbished. The new facilities also host the most modern retail stores, along with restaurants and cafeterias.

For the greater convenience of passengers, there is a shuttle bus from the new terminal to the long-stay car park near the old terminal, while there is also a short-stay car park near the terminal.
