"If you want to turn the country into a vast courtroom to judge the past, I want to turn it into a vast work site to build the future," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in Parliament on Friday, replying to main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras.
The prime minister called on Tsipras to name the businessmen that he believes are benefitting from government measures, criticising him for his line of opposition.
"You had the opportuity to ask me about the state of the economy, about refugees, about the interventions in universities, about the implementation of the anti-smoking law, about a whole range of issues that are of much greater concern to citizens. In four years as prime minister, your favorite subject was the so-called scandals, to show that there is a dividing line between SYRIZA and the evil past. This persistence didn't work out for you ... You ruled for four years and were condemned by the Greek people. A convenient opposition for us is bad for the country. I hope we can agree on the issues. If you insist on this extreme divisive rhetoric, you will find yourself in complete conflict with a society that is no longer there, has gone ahead, we will be talking about the future. This is the policy we will serve," stressed Mitsotakis.
