Charitsis: We will not tolerate the demolition of labour rights and social freedoms
Newsroom"What is needed now is the protection of the economy and society and not an inertia that will lead us to new memoranda," stated main opposition SYRIZA spokesperson Alexis Charitsis on Wednesday, in an interview with libre.gr.
He underlined the need to establish a strong public health system that is accessible to all, support employment and promote healthy enterpreneurship.
Charitisis also criticised Europe's reluctance to provide substantial support to its member-states, with measures that are commensurate to the crisis, and referred to a "strategic impasse" in the European endeavour that is linked with the dominant position of neoliberals and of neoliberal beliefs.
He said that the discussion for the next day "concerns us all", underlining "SYRIZA's effort to draw up a comprehensive programme aiming at the healthcare coverage of the country and its social and economic restructuring. We can't tolerate use of the pandemic crisis as a tool for demolishing labour rights and the social freedoms".
