Labour ministry preparing legislation for remote online working
NewsroomThe labour and social affairs ministry is preparing a bill with 10 laws to create the institutional and legal framework for remote working, to be tabled in parliament within the next few days, according to a ministry announcement on Monday. The ministry noted that online work from home was a "challenge for the future" to which the Greek labour market, businesses and employees must adapt to.
The draft bill will include articles designed to protect labour relations, ensure employer compliance with working hours, respect the private life of those working from home, make the employer responsible for covering the cost of equipment, banning use of cameras, ensure staff are registered with Ergani and others. The ministry will also set up an independent and dedicated department for inspection of remote working in the Labours Inspection Corps.
