PM Tsipras speaking at Rentis on small and medium-sized enterprises
NewsroomGreek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that Greece "turned a page" in August 2018 when it completed its fiscal adjustment program and "left behind the memoranda," during a public political gathering of SYRIZA's economy and development branch, at the capital's central fruit and vegetable market on Monday evening.
At the Renti district of Athens, Tsipras also highlighted his belief that the country is "again self-sustained, relying on the diligence and perseverance of Greeks" in the meeting, which is titled "Small & Medium Sized Enterprises - Factors of Fair & Sustainable Development for All".
"One of the main causes of the crisis is that past growth was not fairly shared," Tsipras said, "but only a few benefitted from the wealth, people who left nothing behind for the country to have and manage the difficulties that came along since."
Speaking of the July 7 general elections, the premier called on Greek citizens to "choose based on logic, nor fear," adding, "We could not create miracles, but we did whatever we could to support small and medium-sized entrepreneurship."
