Tzanakopoulos: We are battling for the future of the Greeks
Newsroom"The question today is totally different from the one of the euroelections. On Sunday we will decide who will be the government and the country's prime minister on July 8," Minister of State Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said in an interview on Monday to the newspaper 'Efimerida ton Syntakton'.
Tzanakopoulos noted that "we must warn the citizens about New Democracy's (ND) antisocial programme, particularly at a time when [ND leader Kyriakos] Mitsotakis has ordered his cadres to observe strict 'radio silence'. Take the issue of the pension system, for example. ND has not said a word about what it plans to do. I believe we are obliged to talk about the dangers that its policy entails for pensioners, young workers and even for social security as an institution," Tzanakopoulos said.
Asked about SYRIZA's priorities, Tzanakopoulos said: "New and better jobs, growth for all, fairer taxation, security and solidarity for all society with a strong health, education and welfare system and with a just state insurance system and among everything a new modern and operational state that will respect and broaden the rights and the freedom of the individual".
Finally, Tzanakopoulos stated that SYRIZA is fighting a battle to prevent a return to bankruptcy, corruption and devastation of labour. "We are fighting a battle that concerns the future of the Greek citizens," he said.
