Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in statements after his meeting on Tuesday with his Bangladeshi counterpart Abul Kalam Abdul Momen urged Turkey not to try to capitalise the migration issue and to comply with its international commitments.

Dendias referred to Greece's stance which is, as he claimed, a stance of responsibility noting that "it has been internationally acknowledged and is non-negotiable".

The Greek Foreign Minister underlined that the Greek government is working hard and assumes specific measures for the acceleration of the procedures that will allow the increase of the number of readmissions in the context of EU-Turkey agreement. He also reassured that "the readmission will continue to be held with total respect to the international law and with high sense of humanism and responsibility to the people. "This characterises the Greek state mechanism and also characterises the Greek society," Dendias said.

Migration was among the issues discussed during Dendias meeting with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh in which participated Alternate Citizen Protection Minister responsible for Migration Giorgos Koumoutsakos.

Both sides agreed to strengthen their cooperation in sectors as shipping, infrastructure, farming and environment.

A MOU between the two countries' ministries for the cooperation in the sector of diplomatic education was signed after the meeting.

On his part, Abul Kalam Abdul Momen said that his country's economy is on a growth course and invited Dendias to visit it soon with a group of entrepreneurs.

He also said that Bangladesh will support Greece's initiative on climate change as it is a very urgent issue for the country and referred to Rohingya people and the need for an agreement with Myanmar for the return of the approximately 1 million refugees.
