Government spokesman Stelios Petsas expressed Greece's solidarity to the Albanian people after the deadly earthquake that hit the neighbouring country at a press briefing on Wednesday.

As he said "an EMAK rescue team has been in Albania since Tuesday afternoon and is trying to save lives.

"The Greek rescuers have already recovered four persons; unfortunately two of them were dead. The rescue team in Thumane recovered alive a 45-year old woman while the team in Durres a 25-year old man. The efforts in coordination with the Albanian authorities and the European mechanism continue," concluded Petsa.
