Curfew violations exceeded 2,000 on Thursday, police report
NewsroomViolations of the curfew imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus reached 2,247 the previous day, police reported on Friday, while nine people were arrested for the illegal operation of shops and other businesses.
Specifically, police said that violations of curfew on Thursday were recorded in the region of Attica (966), in Thessaloniki (272), in Western Greece (166), on the Ionian islands (154), on Crete (120), in Central Macedonia (97), in the Peloponnese (92), in Central Greece (90), in Thessaly (75), in Epirus (60), in the southern Aegean islands (60), in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (53), on the islands of the North Aegean (28) and in Western Macedonia (14).
It is noted that a total of 17,358 violations have been recorded since the first day of the measures, on Monday, March 23. Police also made nine arrests for the illegal operation of business premises, of which six in Thessaloniki, and three in Attica. Police said that 337 persons have been arrested in total since March 12, the first day of measures restricting shop operation.
